A 31-year-old man who sells candy to neighborhood children has been charged with molesting a boy who was 12 when the abuse began.

Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit say Wadenby Beauvais befriended the child’s family and began hugging and touching the boy inappropriately around mid- 2009. The touching progressed to sexual abuse that happened in the child’s home, the suspect’s home and the van from which Beauvais sold candy to children and teens in the apartment complex where he lived.

Beauvais was arrested Tuesday and charged with four counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a victim under 16. Detectives say it’s possible there are other victims.

To report possible sexual abuse by Beauvais, contact BSO Detective Julie Bower at (954) 321-4240 or anonymously report information to Crime Stoppers of Broward County at (954) 493-TIPS (8477) or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
