Book Art and Music Extravaganza

The Book Art & Music Extravaganza will be held Thursday, Jan. 16 at the Herb Skolnick Community Center, 800 SW 36 Ave., 6 to 9 p.m.
This is free event which will include a meet and greet with local published authors, browse and a buy books section, local artists display, Spirit of Liberty Fife & Drum Corps, name that book contest, live music, free hors d’oeuvres by Farraddays Steakhouse, prizes and more.

Taste of LHP

Foodies delight! Taste of LHP is coming Jan 14 from 6 to 9 p.m.at the Lighthouse Point Yacht & Racquet Club, 2701 NE 42 St. in Lighthouse Point. Eat, drink and be merry! This is a good way to sample some of the nearby restaurants who will have samples available! There also will be live music and a silent auction, and raffles! This event benefits the Rotary Fund, the charitable foundation of the Rotary Club of Pompano Beach. Tickets are $50 in advance/ $60 at the door. Exchange Club’s “Bowl Bash” 150 Charity Dinner & Auction

On Saturday, Feb. 1 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Galuppi’s Restaurant in Pompano Beach, the Exchange Club of Pompano Beach will be holding their 63rd annual 150 Charity Dinner, Auction and Drawdown. 
 
The evening will begin with a Tailgate Party from 6:30 to 7:30 on the private back lawn of Galuppi’s with activities, appetizers and silent action.  Then, guests will move indoors to the private events room for dinner and more fun.
 
There will be an open bar all night, buffet dinner, live tribute band “Big Rock,” dancing and a photo booth. Fundraising activities include a Superbowl squares game, 50/50 raffle, wine wagon and booze cooler, the 150 draw-down and silent auction. 
 
Proceeds will all go toward local charities and community organizations such as The Children’s Healing Institute, the Broward Children’s Center, the Boys & Girls Club, First Tee of Broward, Our Father’s House Soup Kitchen, Woodhouse, Dynamos, the DAV, Honor Flight and many more, along with providing student scholarships.

There are a limited number of tickets and none will be sold at the door, so please purchase them in advance online only for $150 at  http://www.bidpal.net/bowlbash($100 is considered a charitable donation). Ticket price includes dinner, open bar all evening and entry into the 150 draw-down for a chance to win $5,000.  Attire is casual this year and guests are encouraged to wear their favorite football team’s gear.
 
Sponsorship opportunities are also available and the Exchange Club is accepting donations for their auction to help promote your business.  The Exchange Club is a 501(c)3 non-profit service organization, which focuses on child abuse prevention, community service, student recognition and scholarships, and Americanism and Veteran’s support. Career & Resource Fair

New Year, New Career…

The City of Deerfield Beach is seeking employers and businesses, that are looking to fill open positions in 2020, to participate in the semi-annual Career & Resource Fair. This fair will be held at the Hillsboro Community Center, 50 Hillsboro Technology Dr., Deerfield Beach, on Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The fair will provide the opportunity to meet local career seekers that are interested in a variety of industries. Recruiters who attend these events will have the chance to meet face-to-face with talented individuals and explain their application process while promoting their organization’s culture and job openings.

Registration is free, but space is limited. Employers will receive a 6-foot table, two chairs, snacks and refreshments.

Worth the Drive: JA World Uncorked

It is time for the 10th Anniversary of JA World Uncorked, a JA Circle of Wise Women’s Signature Event, presented by Breakthru Beverage Florida. Held Saturday, Jan. 18 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., at Junior Achievement of South Florida, at the Lillian S. Wells Pavilion, 1130 Coconut Creek Blvd. in Coconut Creek, this is the place to be for food and drink lovers. They expect over 900 people to attend.

Here, South Floridians meet and mingle while tasting some signature creations by local chefs and sampling wine, craft beer, spirits, and specialty cocktails in the 60,000 sq. ft. facility. There will be over 35 restaurants and 35 beverage partners there.

There is always some unique performances with live music and a  great dance floor, raffles and a silent auction. Guests can also duck into specialty lounges and discover even more to do and see. It truly is a unique event and great place to meet people.

ArtLit2020 is a free, all-ages celebration of art and literature featuring live chalk art, canvas art, music, virtual reality demonstrations, interactive experiences, food trucks and more.
