UPDATE:

The suspect who committed these car burglaries (original alert is below) was charged by BSO deputies on April 23 after detectives from Coconut Creek PD saw the published reports and recognized the suspect as someone they had taken into custody on April 18 on unrelated charges.

The suspect is: Arthur Rivera W/M, d.o.b.12/18/81. He remains in custody

Car Burglar Busy in Deerfield Beach>

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a busy car burglar who broke into 14 cars in Deerfield Beach on April 15.

The suspect was captured on home surveillance video checking the doors of the vehicles parked in a homeowner’s driveway and looking inside them with a flashlight. When he couldn’t get inside those cars, he moved to the neighbor’s home.

At around 10 a.m. BSO units responded to 2330 Deercreek Trail when the occupant of the home noticed the garage door was open and all three vehicles had been ransacked (one inside the garage and two in the driveway). The burglar also stole a TV and iPod.

Fourteen vehicles were broken into at the Deer Creek Neighborhood on April 15 between the hours of 4 a.m. and 7 a.m.

April 20 A man reported that his vehicle parked at 4377 SW 10 Place was broken into. An iPod nano, iPod charger and change were stolen.

April 20 A woman reported that her car parked at 3401 Country Club Blvd. was broken into by smashing a window. The woman reported that her purse was stolen, containing her credit cards, a wedding ring and a watch.

April 22 A woman reported that her home at 60 Farnham C was entered through a rear bedroom window. She said that a television was stolen.

April 22 A woman reported that her home at 331 NE 48 St. was broken into and a cell phone was stolen.

April 22 A man was seen shoplifting razor blades, deodorant and body wash from CVS at 2 S. Federal Hwy.

April 22 It was reported that vending machines in the middle school cafeteria at 701 SE 6 Ave. were vandalized and chips and candy were stolen.

April 13 A woman was arrested and charged with burglary and battery at 2141 NE 42 St. The woman forced her way into an apartment and began destroying property. The woman then struck a man she believed had tried to burglarize her apartment with a sneaker. At the time of the attack, the man was in a deep sleep. When awakened, he said he knew nothing of the burglary.

April 14 A woman reported that her car, parked at 3110 N. Federal Hwy., was broken into. She said that a purse containing $2,000, five credit cards and other items was stolen.

April 16 A woman reported that her home at 3300 NE 23 Ave. was broken into. $12,300 worth of cash and $16,000 worth of jewelry were reported stolen.

April 13 It was reported that a business at 2531 W. Sample Rd. was broken into. The alarm and phone lines were cut and $5,908 was stolen.

April 13 A man reported that rear tires and rims were stolen from a truck parked at 840 NE 41 Court. Value of the tires and rim was estimated at $800.

April 13 It was reported that an exterior air conditioning unit was stolen from 4201 NE 2 Ave.

April 15 A man reported that someone entered his home at 2417 Lob Lolly Lane by prying open the garage door. Dresser drawers were ransacked.

April 15 A man reported that someone opened the garage door at his home at 2363 Deer Creek Trail. Once inside the garage, the person entered one car and stole $7 in change and an iPod connection cable, then entered another car and stole $5 in change.

LIGHTHOUSE POINT

April 7 A woman reported that she left her purse with her two wallets inside a dressing room at T.J. Maxx at 3722 N. Federal Hwy. She returned and found her purse, but reported that the two wallets were missing. The wallets contained $800 in U.S. currency and $300 in Canadian currency. They also contained credit cards and a Canadian driver’s license.

April 10 A woman reported that someone entered her home at 2170 NE 44 St. and stole a television, two Gucci purses and an Xbox 360. Total loss was estimated at $3,100.

Car Burglar Hammers Deer Creek

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a busy car burglar who broke into 14 cars in Deerfield Beach on April 15.

The suspect was captured on home surveillance video checking the doors of the vehicles parked in a homeowner’s driveway and looking inside them with a flashlight.  When he couldn’t get inside those cars, he moved to the neighbor’s home.

April 6 A woman reported that while she was pushing a cart through Deerfield Mall, an unknown suspect stole a shopping bag containing $79 worth of merchandise. Incident was reported at 3824 W. Hillsboro Blvd.

April 6 A man reported that someone smashed out a rear sliding door at his home at 443 SE 13 Court. A laptop computer and two cameras were stolen.

April 6 A man was arrested and charged for attempting to break into an apartment at 1461 SE 2 St. The man attempted to break into an apartment window with a hedge clippers.

DEERFIELD – District 4

March 30 Conveyance burglary took place in the Villages of Hillsboro Park, 4000 NW 6 St., between 5:20 and 6:10 p.m. Burglars targeted items left in vehicles at the Villages of Hillsboro Park on Friday. Three vehicles were burglarized by smashed windows with cellular phones and wallets targeted. While visiting the park, please do not leave items of value in your vehicle.

March 31 Residential burglary was reported in Woodlake Circle in Deer Creek between 8 and 10:30 p.m. Victim reported leaving for dinner and, upon returning, finding the rear slider (pool area faces golf course) slightly ajar. Victim reported subject was in residence and went through belongings. It appeared subject left as the victim returned home. Victim was unable to determine if anything was missing at this time. Scene was processed.

NOTE: The previous week, two residential burglaries were reported on Woodlake Circle in Deer Creek. Suspects entered through slider doors and targeted jewelry. If you notice suspicious activity in your neighborhood, call 911.

April 8 A woman reported that her residence at 711 NE 51 Court was broken into. A video game system, video camera, digital camera and jewelry were stolen. Total loss was estimated at $4,330.

March 30 A woman was arrested and charged with stealing $167.52 worth of items from CVS at 3580 N. Federal Hwy. It was determined that the woman had three convictions for petty theft, so the charges were increased to felony petty theft. The woman had received a previous warning from CVS for trespassing. She was also charged with trespass after warning.

April 1 A woman reported that while she was at Packy’s, at 4480 N. Federal Hwy., someone went into her purse and stole a money pouch. The pouch contained $87, a Florida driver’s license and credit and debit cards.

March 29 A business at 100 S. Military Trail #11 was broken into by smashing the front window. 13 cartons of cigarettes, lottery tickets, $61 in coins and telephone cards were stolen. Total loss was $652.

March 31 A woman reported that her home at 2056 Woodlake Circle was entered and her belongings gone through. She did not know if anything had been stolen.

March 31 A man reported that his friend, a woman, stole his car. He was able to contact the woman, who said she would return the car. But the car has not been returned. Incident was reported at 1460 SW 3 Terr.

March 31 A man was sharing a room with another man at Embassy Suites Deerfield Beach, 950 SE 21 Ave. When he woke up, he realized that his roommate had stolen several iPhones and his wallet.

April 1 A woman reported that while she was shopping at Publix at 1337 S. Military Trail, her wallet was stolen from her purse.

April 1 A woman reported that someone entered her home at 2962 Waterford Dr. and stole a gold chain necklace with three diamonds valued at about $400. She believes her brother may have taken the necklace.

April 1 A man reported that his apartment at 490 Jefferson Dr., Unit 102 was burglarized. He reported the loss of two flat-screen televisions, one motorcycle, four school books and a gun.

April 1 A man was involved in a rollover car accident at 300 SE 6 St. The driver told a witness he had cocaine in the car. A bag of cocaine was found in the car. The man was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine.

 

DEERFIELD – District 4

Crime Stoppers Alert – Surveillance cameras in a Deerfield Beach Dunkin’ Donuts captured clear images of a man with a T-shirt or cloth wrapped around his hand who demanded money from the cashier. Broward Sheriff’s Office robbery detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying this criminal, who calmly took the money from the employee’s hand and left the restaurant around 9:40 p.m. Feb. 27 at 3390 W. Hillsboro Blvd., Deerfield Beach. He was wearing dark pants and sneakers, a black, long-sleeved athletic shirt with white piping and a tan cap with writing on the front. March 29 Residential burglary was reported in Deer Creek on N. Emerald Way between 6 and 6:30 p.m. An audible alarm was dispatched for this location. Upon arrival, neighbor was on scene. The front side light window was smashed out. A laptop computer and other unknown items were taken. Owners left the house at 6 p.m.. Attempts to reach the homeowners by telephone were negative. Scene was processed.

March 29 Burglary to a business took place at Computer Direct, 3318 W. Hillsboro Blvd. at 3 a.m. Deputy viewed smashed window and alarm sounding to business. Papa unit and K9 were on scene. Subjects gone on arrival. East metal gate inside business protecting glass was left unsecured. Cash register and possibly computers targeted. Scene was processed.

March 22 It was reported that a home at 3900 NE 26 Ave. (owned by Bank of America due to a repossession) was entered and a refrigerator and stove were stolen. A number of realtors had been showing the house. It is unknown who might have taken the appliances.

March 23 A man reported that he was involved in an altercation with his roommate. The man spent a brief time in jail. He reported that when he returned, he found that six checks had been taken, forged and uttered at the Check Cashing Store. He believes his roommate took the checks. Loss was $1,570. Incident was reported at 2141 NE 42 St.

March 20 A man was arrested and charged with stealing a hammer and chisel valued at $330. The incident took place at 331 NE 48 St.

March 21 A man reported that his home at 727 NW 41 Terr. was entered and electronics, household items and firearms were stolen.

March 23 A man was arrested and charged with burglary. He was observed attempting to break into a home at 400 SW 2 St.

March 24 A man was arrested and charged with grand theft/shoplifting. He left an International House of Pancakes without paying for his food. He was arrested at 851 W. Sample Rd.

March 24 A home at 1558 SE 10 St. was entered and jewelry, a television and checks were stolen. It is estimated that the value of the property stolen was between $20,000 and $30,000.

March 25 A three-wheeled bicycle valued at $500 was stolen from a porch at 718 NE 47 Court.

March 25 A woman was walking along 100 NE 48 St. when a man approached her and stole a gold-and- silver necklace from her neck.

March 25 A woman reported that her home at 1021 SE 14 St. was entered via an unlocked door and a laptop, flatscreen television, and costume jewelry were stolen.

 

DEERFIELD — District 4

March 21  Residential burglary was reported in Riverglen East/Deer Isle, 727 NW 41 Terr., between 8:30 a.m. and  7:15 p.m. Victim stated that unknown person(s) entered his residence, removing electronics, household items and firearms. Victim will attempt to obtain serial numbers for the items.

March 18 A woman came to the Lighthouse Point Police station and turned in a wallet she found at the Shop Smart Food Store at 2001 NE 39 St. The man who owned the wallet was contacted. He came to the police station and picked up the wallet. He reported that he believed the wallet had contained $64 and that the money was missing from the wallet.

March 19 A man reported that his son stole $6,040 worth of items from his home at 5011 NE 23 Ave. The father is not sure if he wants his son arrested, but he does want him out of his house.

March 15 A man reported his car stolen from 1114 SE 12 Terr.

March 16 A truck was reported stolen from the parking lot of Elite Stairways and Railings at 4400 NW 19 Ave.

March 16 A woman reported that someone entered her business at 635 N. Federal Hwy. and stole her purse and $290.

March 17 A man was arrested and charged with stealing money from an open cash register at Latino’s Restaurant at 1754 W. Hillsboro Blvd.

March 17 A woman reported that she awoke to find an unknown man in her home at 521 NE 37 St. The man stole meat from the freezer and fled.

March 18 A woman was placing items in her car at 4811 N. Dixie Hwy. when a man stepped out of a car and snatched her purse.

March 18 A man reported that his car had been entered at 2502 SW Natura Blvd. and that the glove compartment was entered. Items stolen included change and a credit card. While he was filing the report, another man came to the scene and reported that his car was entered and change stolen from the glove compartment. A woman also came to the scene and reported her husband’s car had been entered and change stolen from the glove compartment.

March 18 A man reported that his unlocked home at 321 SE 15 Ave. was entered and a laptop valued at $330 was taken.

DEERFIELD — District 4

March 14  Residential burglary was reported in Deer Run, on SW 3 Street, between 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the house by smashing out the southeast spare bedroom window. Once inside, suspect(s) removed a 55″ LCD television, Playstation, computer, gold jewelry and watches. The property is surrounded by a wooden privacy fence; both gates were locked. Area canvas was performed.

March 12 Burglary to a business took place on SW 15 Street between 6 p.m. on March 12 and 6 a.m. on March 15. Complainant reported that unknown person(s) stole a 6-inch threaded-siamese fire department water connection valued at $1,500, located inside the fenced complex. Area was canvassed.

  Residential burglary occurred in Waterford Courtyards at Waterford Drive South between 8: 30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Victim reported unknown subject entered her residence via an unlocked slider. Once inside, subject removed a diamond necklace, five gold necklaces, a diamond bracelet, and an I-pad. Total loss: $2,500. Scene was processed.

March 15 Strong-arm robbery was reported in Aromoss Grill in Deerfield Mall,
3996 W. Hillsboro Blvd. at 8:20 p.m. Victim reported subject entered establishment as if to purchase something and handed the cashier a $20. Cashier looked at the money and the subject attempted to take money out of the cash register.. A struggle ensued and the subject fled into an awaiting vehicle. Video available.

LIGHTHOUSE POINT

March 9 A woman reported that she gave a man who identified himself as a valet at the Fifth Avenue Grill at 4650 N. Federal Hwy. the keys to her car. The man left with the car. He had been observed looking into vehicles in the area. Later that night, the man was apprehended by Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with traffic violations, a DUI and auto theft.

March 9 It was reported that a home at 2265 NE 24 St. burglarized. A pressure cleaner, power paint sprayer, hand-held drill with drill bits and a body paint suit were stolen.

March 10 A woman reported that a car she owns with her soon-to-be ex-husband was entered and items related to the divorce proceeding were taken. She believes her soon-to-be ex-husband took the items. Incident was reported at 1921 NE 25 St.

March 13 A man reported that cars owned by he and his wife were entered. The man reported that a credit card was taken and used for purchases at a Hess Gas Station.

March 8  Woman reported her car stolen from a parking lot at 305 Lock Rd.

March 8 Man reported his kayak stolen from 909 Rich Dr.

March 9 Resident of a home at 902 Spring Circle saw a man exit his home with a backpack. Resident reported a computer monitor and receiver stolen.

March 9 Man at American Rock Bar & Grill, 1600 E. Hillsboro Blvd., placed his iPhone 4 on the table and became distracted. He later reported the iPhone 4 missing.

March 10 Man reported his truck and trailer with lawn maintenance equipment stolen from 4251 NE 2 Ave.

March 10 Six tires were reported stolen from three vehicles at Florida Bin Management at 4100 N. Powerline Rd.

March 11 Man at 950 S. Powerline Rd. reported his van broken into and a floor jack, and toolbox on wheels containing hand tools and specialty cable tools, stolen.

March 11 Man reported two rear outer tires stolen from his truck parked at 520 SW 12 Ave.

 

DEERFIELD — District 4

March 11 Criminal mischief felony was reported at Crystal Heights, SW 15 Street, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Victim exited his residence and observed all four tires on 2000 Kia Utility vehicle flat and punctured. Total loss: approximately $300.

March 10 Criminal mischief felony was reported in Deer Isle, on NW 6 Court between 7 and 8 p.m. Victim reported that unknown person spray-painted his two vehicles. Deputy conducted an area check, finding at least 10 other vehicles spray-painted. Detectives are investigating.

 

LIGHTHOUSE POINT

March 6 Apartment at 2141 NE 41 St. was broken into. Master bedroom closet was ransacked. A dresser and jewelry box were gone through. Two laptops and a BB gun were stolen.

March 7 It was reported that someone entered a home at 2265 NE 24 St. and stole a washing machine, dryer and countertop stove.

DEERFIELD BEACH

March 4  A man entered Brazilian Depot at 700 SW 10 St. and demanded that a group of people there get on the ground. Victims reported the man had a gun. One victim got up and was struck by the suspect with the gun. The man then pulled the trigger of the gun and it sounded like a toy gun. Victims then got up and pushed the man out the door. The man fled and left the gun, which turned out to be a BB gun.

March 4 Two women were observed shoplifting clothing and shoes and placing the items in their purses at Super Target at 3599 W. Hillsboro Blvd. They were each issued a Notice to Appear in Court.

March 4 A woman reported that someone smashed out the driver’s door window of her car parked at 3001 Country Club Blvd. and stole a purse containing $200, a driver’s license, Social Security card, credit cards and a wallet.

March 4 A man reported his car stolen from 509 NW 36 Ave.

March 2 A man reported that a man approached him with a handgun and demanded his wallet. Victim complied and gave him the wallet with credit cards, identification and $150. Incident took place at 405 SW 13 Place.

March 2 A woman reported her car parked at 4550 NW 18 Ave. entered and between $10 and $15 worth of coins stolen.

March 2 A man reported his motorcycle stolen from 150 NW 42 Court.

March 1 Two men were arrested and charged with burglarizing a home at 1061 SW 7 Ave. and stealing $300 worth of property.

 

DEERFIELD — District 4

March 1 Loitering arrest was made in Riverglen, near 4500 NW 1 Place at 12:27 a.m. Deputy observed subjects walking into residential neighborhood, and, upon making contact, both subjects attempted to flee on foot. Subjects were apprehended and arrested for loitering and prowling. Post Miranda warning, subjects could not dispel that they were there to commit, or may have already committed a crime. Detective responded for interviews. Subjects live out of city and have extensive pasts for robbery, burglary and grand theft auto.

Feb. 2 A woman reported her car parked at 4500 N. Federal Hwy. entered and rummaged. She said that a back pack with clothing was taken.
