Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are looking for a man who tried to rob an IHOP restaurant in Pompano shortly after 1 a.m. today. There is no surveillance video, but the man had a distinctive sleeve tattoo of flames that covered his entire right arm. He carried a rifle and demanded money from employees but then left before taking the money. T Any member of the public with knowledge about the crime or the criminal can report information anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Broward County, which will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. That number is 954-493-TIPS (8477).

June 9 Burglary at Deerfield Mall at CiCi’s Pizza, 3912 W. Hillsboro Bl., and American Nail and Spa, 3936 W. Hillsboro Blvd., at 3:10 a.m. Deputies responded to an alarm at CiCi’s Pizza, and, upon arrival, a shattered front door was observed. While checking the area, a shattered door was also discovered at American Nail and Spa. Interior of both businesses checked. Restaurant management advised that nothing was missing, but provided video of the incident. Owner of nail salon advised of missing 50” LCD television valued at $700.
June 9 Armed robbery at 2573 W. Hillsboro Blvd. at 3:19 a.m. Victim was walking home to Lantana from Coconut Creek, eastbound on Hillsboro Boulevard., when a black male emerged from the bushes, produced a gun and demanded victim’s money. Victim fled on foot and was chased by two other black males. Victim flagged down a passing motorist, at which point suspects fled in the other direction. Aerial unit responded and established a perimeter with negative results.
June 9-10 Conveyance burglary in Deer Creek, 3352/3376 Lakeshore Dr., between 10 p.m. and 7:15 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the victim’s vehicle via unlocked door and removed loose change valued at $30. Scene was processed for latent prints.
June 9 Grand Theft at 1799 W. Hillsboro Blvd. at 7:30 p.m. Victim reported that while working at Checker’s, he placed his cell phone next to the register and, when he checked back, it was gone. Total loss: $600. Teletype notified. Victim indicated he will obtain the video surveillance video as soon as he can.
June 10 Conveyance burglary at Hess gas station, 2515 W. Sample Rd., at 4:54 p.m. Victim reported she arrived at station for gas and when she went inside, unknown subject entered her unlocked vehicle, removing purse which contained wallet with credit cards, driver’s license and $75 cash. Total loss valued at $325.
June 10 Conveyance Burglary at Starlight Cove, 4003 NW 5 Dr., at 4:40 a.m. Deputies responded to dispatch call that subject was observed trying door handles to vehicles in the area. Units responded, perimeter established. Two subjects located and they possessed victim’s wallet and Florida driver’s license from victim’s vehicle. Subjects also were in possession of change and credit cards from other possible victims.
June 10 -12 Grand Theft at 3191 SW 11 St. and 1052 S. Powerline Rd. (warehouse district) between 6 p.m. on June 10 and 7 p.m. on June 12. While on patrol, officer noticed A/C unit to rear of building was pried apart in attempt to steal the copper and aluminum from the condensing unit. Area check to see if surrounding businesses had suffered the same resulted in finding three more units missing from 1052 S. Powerline Rd.
June 11 Conveyance burglary in Quiet Waters Park, 401 S. Powerline Rd., between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.Victims’ vehicles were forcibly entered via smashed door windows, and a wallet containing credit cards and cash was stolen. Both vehicles were processed and area canvas was negative.
June 12 Conveyance burglary in Riverglen, 261 NW 47 Terr.,10-10:30 a.m. Victim said unlocked vehicle was parked in the driveway when she discovered her interior ransacked and a Magellan Maestro GPS valued at $200 was taken. No suspects or witnesses.

June 1 Three juvenile black males were arrested after joyriding in the golf cart they stole from Deerfield Park Elementary. They ended up smashing it into the walls at school, causing $6,000 in damage.
June 2 Tareq Warwar was arrested at 1360 S. Federal Hwy. after threatening two victims with a gun and two rounds were discharged.
June 2 Police responded to a fire on the playground at Deerfield Palms Condo Association, 1337 S. Dixie Hwy., Deerfield. No suspects located but fire that caused $2,500 in damage was put out.
June 3 Over 400 gallons of used vegetable oil were stolen from Johnson Biofuels on E. Hillsboro Boulevard
June 4 A home on NE 50 Street was burglarized.
June 4 A car parked on NW 9 Avenue was burglarized and $1,100 was missing.
June 5 Police responded to several theft incidents along Deerfield beach, where suspects reached into unattended items.
June 2 Residential burglary was reported in Deer Run, 343 SW 32 Terr., between 7:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Victim stateed that unknown suspects entered his residence, removing loose change and a watch.
June 2 Residential burglary occured in Harbors of Riverglen, 527 NW 45 Ave., between 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Victim stated unknown person(s) entered his residence, removing electronics and paperwork.
June 4 Suspect was apprehended after an armed kidnapping/ armed robbery at 4300 block of SW 10 Place. Victim reported she was followed to her home and approached by the suspect with a knife. Suspect demanded money and, when none was produced, he forced the victim into her vehicle; they were going to drive to a bank. Victim realized an opportunity to escape and jumped from the vehicle before reaching the bank. Suspect returned to the victim’s home and removed items of value. Through joint efforts by BSO Deerfield Beach deputies, BSO Criminal Investigations Division and Ft. Lauderdale Police Department, the suspect was apprehended. Investigation is ongoing.
June 2-5 Residential burglary in Deer Creek, 2384 Lob Lolly Lane. Victim advised someone entered his unlocked rear- screened patio and stole his 37” LCD TV while he was out of town. Scene was processed.

May 25 Publix reported theft of the cardboard boxes behind the Venetian Isles location.
May 31 Victim reported a clone of her card was used in Virginia Beach for a loss of $2,201.
May 31 Copper was stolen from A/C units at Debt Solutions of North America. Entire unit will have to be replaced at a value of $10,000.
June 1 Lighthouse Point Florists, on NE 24 Street, was burglarized, and cash register with change stolen, for total loss of $560.

June 8 at 7:09 a.m. Deerfield Beach Fire-Rescue responded to a call about a suspicious package left on the sand south of the pier. BSO bomb and arson squad was brought in to evaluate it. They ended up detonating the suspicious package with their own arsenal. Detectives are still investigating as per standard protocol.

A man with an apparent penchant for playing cops and robbers stole several video games and cash from a Deerfield Beach Game Stop on May 27. Around closing time, the robber approached the checkout counter with three games and an Xbox video game console. An employee scanned the items and told him the cost, but instead of paying, the man said he had a gun and demanded money from the clerks.
He grabbed cash from the register and had an employee throw a Madden football game in his bag. Among his other swag were the popular Grand Theft Auto game, where the player commits crimes such as stealing cars, and another game called L.A. Noire, in which the player is a police officer challenged to solve crimes. Surveillance cameras inside the store at 3928 W. Hillsboro Blvd. captured video of the robbery.

May 24 Three televisions, a video game system, digital camera, laptop and jewelry worth $3,500 were stolen from local residence.
May 26 A 51” plasma television was stolen from a home on SW 2 Street.
May 26 A 16-year-old was arrested on SW 2 Street for a strong-arm robbery that happened at 202 W. Hillsboro Blvd. While being transported, he threatened to kill the transporting deputy, saying he had a bullet with the deputy’s name on it and that the deputy was going to die.
May 27 A driver’s license safety checkpoint was conducted near the 100 block of SW 11 Way and a total of 68 citations were issued, and one arrest was made for habitual offender. Three vehicles were also towed, and one vehicle fled the checkpoint; police were unable to locate it.
May 27 A black male came into a business as it was closing, advised he had a gun and demanded staff give him cash. He left on foot.
May 29 Unknown suspect poured what appeared to be a hot liquid on a dog confined to a metal cage in the backyard. It left sustained burns on the dog’s rear leg.
May 29 A suspect left the car running while running inside to get something and the car was stolen off Tivoli Circle while victim left the car unattended.
May 26 Residential burglary occurred in the Tidewater Estates/Pinetree area, 620 Lock Rd., between 7:30 and 11 a.m. Complainant reported that unknown suspect had broken into his residence by prying open the front door. Taken from the residence was a jar containing approximately $60 in coins, and a radio. Residence was processed for latent prints and the area was canvassed. During the canvassing, next door neighbor said that she heard noises about 10 a.m. but thought it was kids and did not call the police.
May 26 Residential burglary took place in the Waterford Homes area, 1528 SW 28 Ave., between 11:10-11:30 a.m. Complainant reported that unknown person(s) had broken into her residence by prying open the laundryroom door. Taken from the residence were a Dell laptop, jewelry and $2,000 in silver coins.

Villages of Hillsboro, 3897 NW 3 Place, between 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. Complainant reported that unknown person(s) had broken into her residence by smashing the rear sliding door. Taken from the residence were a 40″ TV, two laptops, jewelry and video games.
May 26 Conveyance burglary occurred at Deerfield Mall, 3740 W. Hillsboro Blvd., between 9:45 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. Complainant reported that unknown person(s) had broken into her vehicle parked at the location where she works, by smashing the driver door window. Taken was a purse from the trunk area.
May 13 – May 22 Conveyance burglary took place at Crystal Lake Boat and RV Storage, 1951 NW 44 St. Two complainants reported each had unknown suspect(s) force open a side window on their RV’s being stored in the lot. Both reported missing electronics from the dash and a television. Loss of approximately $5,000. Both scenes were processed. There was no surveillance video on the property.

May 23 A victim inside Publix at Venetian Isles had her wallet stolen from inside her purse.
May 28 A homeowner on NE 28 Street surprised a burglar when she was sunning out back and he and the male driver of vehicle were caught robbing her house. The white male driver, Colin Williams, was arrested and the black male, who was cutting lines inside the house, fled and later forced three children to take him across the Intracoastal on a boat.

May 16 About $6,000 in computer equipment was taken from a business on South Federal Highway.
May 16 Frank Moore was arrested at 553 E. Sample Rd. outside a pain clinic where he was threatening to stab customers. He attacked deputies attempting to arrest him and was charged accordingly.
May 16 A homeowner on SW 30 Avenue had several guns and jewelry stolen from his home.
May 17 Stephen Johnson was arrested by Deerfield deputies for two burglary conveyances at LA Fitness. He is also a suspect in eight other burglary/fraud cases from Deerfield to Vero Beach. Additional charges pending. Johnson is currently on probation for similar offenses.
May 17 More than $1,600 in electronics were stolen from a home on NE 51 Court.
May 18 An A/C unit worth $4,000 was stolen from behind a business on S. Dixie Highway.
May 19 A search warrant was executed at a home at 941 NE 51 St. and 11 grams of crack cocaine, 14 grams of marijuana, 1 rifle and a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver were found inside. The revolver was stolen during a Deerfield Beach burglary. Ronel Desinor was arrested for grand theft third degree firearm, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia. Kesenel Desinor was arrested for possession of marijuana under 20 grams. Both were taken to the Main Jail.
May 19 A city-owned property on SW 6 Avenue was burglarized and the exterior A/C unit was stolen. Deerfield Beach owns the property, and the person reporting is doing renovations.
May 21 Calls were received by police with complaints of shots fired by a gun near the 200 block of SW 3 Avenue. Police are investigating and found six spent 9mm casings.
May 21 A $2,000 A/C was stolen from a home on NE 4 Avenue.
May 22 A victim left a laptop on the backseat of his car in a black bag near NE 6 Street and it was stolen from his car by unknown means.
May 22 Thieves did a grab and run at TJ Maxx on W. Hillsboro Boulevard, stealing more than $500 worth of Ralph Lauren Polo shorts. This is the third such incident in South Florida.
May 17-18 Between 5:30 p.m. and 6 a.m., a conveyance burglary took place in the Waterford Homes area, 1471 SW 30 Ave. Complainant reported that unknown person(s) broke into his vehicle parked at the above-listed location. Point of entry was by smashing the passenger side window. Taken from the vehicle were a briefcase and a Sun Pass with a total value of $100. Vehicle was processed, latent prints were taken and the area was canvassed.
May 19 Conveyance burglary was reported between 10:45 and 11 a.m. at 3370 W. Hillsboro Blvd., south side of Hillsboro Boulevard, a block east of Powerline Road.
Victim stated she left her vehicle running in the parking lot. Unknown suspect(s) removed her wallet from the front passenger seat. Loss: cash, DL, Medicaid card. No suspects, witnesses or video at this time. Crime scene was processed.
May 20 Residential burglary occurred in the Riverglen area, 59 NW 45 Ave., between 8:40 a.m. and 7 p.m.Victim states that unknown person(s) entered her residence and removed almost all her electronics.
May 22 Grand theft was reported at Discovery Pointe, 2116 Discovery Circle between noon and 1:15 p.m. Victim stated that unknown person(s) stole dive equipment drying on a metal rack off the driveway. Estimated loss: $1,860.
May 9 Several vehicles were burglarized at Georgetown Plaza and miscellaneous items were stolen.
May 14 A victim’s ATM card was used at a SunTrust location in Lighthouse Point and $880 stolen.
May 18 Two rod and reels worth $1,000 were stolen from a home on NE 27 Avenue.

A man believed to be homeless was struck and killed by a commuter train late Monday morning in Pompano Beach.
Just before 10:30 a.m., a northbound Tri-Rail train was approaching Hammondville Road when a pedestrian trespasser was walking westbound towards the tracks and stopped right in the path of the oncoming Tri-Rail train, about 500 feet south of Hammondville Road. The train, traveling at 79 miles per hour, struck the pedestrian, instantly killing him. The engineer stopped the train after the impact, approximately 2,000 feet north of the Hammondville Road crossing.
The train had 127 passengers and two crewmen on board at the time of the incident. Both rails were shut down well into the afternoon while BSO Crime Scene Unit detectives processed the scene, which was almost ½ mile-long. Rail traffic has since resumed, in time for the afternoon commute.
Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are conducting the investigation.

May 9 About $1,300 in electronics was stolen from a home on NE 45 Court.
May 10 Due to a car broken into at 301 W. Hillsboro Blvd., Deerfield BSO joined Boca police in an investigation tied to 14 gas station burglaries in Palm Beach. Investigation found the suspect and the victim’s purse. Frederick Matthews, of Ft. Lauderdale, was arrested and charged for all burglaries.
May 11 A victim parked at the Deerfield Beach Country Club and an unknown suspect punched the driver’s side door lock and stole Dell laptop, wireless mouse and power cord.
May 12 A home on SW 24 Terrace was burglarized as was a home on SE 6 Avenue.
May 13 A victim called and said people were in an argument by her home in East Deerfield (location unidentified) and one of the persons produced a gun that discharged. A person matching the description with a gunshot wound to his butt was found on North Ocean but the situation wasn’t resolved, due to a lack of positive identification.
May 13 Deputies responded to Riva Motorsports, where thieves attempted to ram an overhead door using a truck from a nearby auto dealer and use it to break into two storage bays nearby.
May 13 Alex Pardon, of Hialeah, was arrested for threatening to discharge a destructive device, false report of a bomb and unlawful use of a two-way communication device for threatening to blow up Club Tropicante in January.
May 13 Two unlocked vehicles were burglarized on SE 10 Street.
May 14 A victim was unloading groceries from her car on SE 2 Avenue when two subjects attempted to take her purse off her shoulder and run, but were unsuccessful.
May 15 A 2008 Toyota Tundra was stolen from a home on NW 36 Avenue. A 2009 Infinite G37 was taken from same location.
May 10 Grand theft was reported in the former Winn Dixie Plaza at 1101 S. Military Trail. Management company contacted police in reference to approximately $100,000 in copper pipes and coils stolen from commercial air conditioning units located on the roof of the building. Complainant stated a nearby business owner told her two men were seen on the roof on Thursday, May 5 or Friday, May 6. Savitar Realty Advisors stated there is a cleaning crew on property in the morning. They believe the theft occurred in the early afternoon or evening.
May 12 Burglary arrests were made after BSO deputies and detectives worked through the night Thursday, piecing together information which ultimately led to the arrest of three suspects for multiple burglaries throughout the city of Deerfield Beach. Suspects were charged with several vehicle burglaries that occurred in April in Deer Creek (Hollows Circle, Palladian Circle, and Corona Way) and residential burglaries near Eastridge Circle and Crystal Lake Drive.
May 12 Residential burglary was reported in the Waterford Homes area, 1439 SW 24 Terr, between 10:30-10:40 a.m. Victim stated that unknown suspect(s) entered residence and removed electronics and a checkbook. Crime scene was processed. Area canvass located a neighbor with video surveillance of the burglary, showing two black males entering the victim’s residence through the back yard.
May 12 Conveyance burglary was reported at Aldi’s in Deerfield Town Square, 3825 W. Hillsboro Blvd., between noon and 12:15 p.m. Complainant reported that person(s) unknown had broken into his vehicle parked at location as complainant was patronizing the business. Point of entry was by smashing the driver side window. Taken from the vehicle was a bag containing a laptop, two watches, a camera, miscellaneous clothing. Total value: $2,750. Vehicle was processed for latent prints and the area was canvassed.
May 14 Conveyance burglary was reported at Quiet Waters Park, 401 S. Powerline Rd., between 4:45 and 4:50 p.m. Unknown subject smashed passenger side window and removed victim’s purse. Total loss: $230. The scene was processed.
May 14 Auto theft was reported in Deer Pointe, 465 NW 36 Ave., between May 14 at 8:15 p.m. and May 15 at 8:45 a.m. Victim said he last saw his truck parked in a guest space in front of his house at 8:15 p.m. Saturday. Upon heading to work the next morning, the truck was missing. All payments are up-to- date. Victim has all sets of keys. No suspects at this time.
May 14 Auto theft was reported in Deer Pointe, 429 NW 36 Ave., between May 14 at 5:30 p.m. and May 15 at 1:15 p.m.Victim’s car was parked in a guest parking space next to his building. Vehicle was taken by unknown means. Victim has both sets of keys and is up-to-date on payments. NOTE: A truck was taken from the same neighborhood during the same approximate dates and times. May 7 A car parked outside Kid’s Playtown in Lighthouse Point had its window smashed. The owner had purse stolen.
May 8 John Collins, of Pompano, was arrested for possession of narcotics – morphine and oxycodone.
