DEERFIELD BEACH

Jan. 25 Repairmen went to a home on SW 15 Street and found four children ages 7,5,4 and 2 home alone. Police responded, found them alone and waited an hour before Maquasa Douglas returned home. A total of eight children were removed from Douglas’ custody and she was charged with four counts of child neglect and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Jan. 25 Victim was walking through Palms Apartments on SW 13 Place when he was approached by two black males in hoodies. First suspect showed a handgun, ordered victim to the ground and took his backpack, cell phone, wallet and $80 before fleeing.

Jan. 25 Thieves entered fenced in area at City of Deerfield Utilities Department and stole two fire hydrants, one manhole cover and three valve covers worth $2,900.

Jan. 26 $6,300 air conditioning unit was stolen from homeowner on NW 3 Street.

Jan. 26 Cristiano Dasilva was arrested for shooting a gun off near NW 3 Street. Thomas Otero and Arthur Lobe were arrested for obstructing the investigation.

Jan. 26 1999 GMC van was stolen from SE 4 Street with $15,000 worth of tools inside.

Jan. 28 Police responded to unidentified address in Deerfield to resuscitate a 2-year-old found at bottom of pool. He was taken to hospital, where he was reportedly revived.

Jan. 28 Honda CBR 1000 motorcycle was stolen from NW 9 Avenue.

Jan. 28 Homeowner on Springs Circle reported nine fishing rods stolen from her patio.

Jan. 29 Anthony Fischer and Tristen Leonard were arrested for burglaries in Deer Creek on Jan. 17. Five burglary cases were cleared by these arrests.

Jan. 30 Boca resident was visiting friend at Tivoli when she was robbed by two black male subjects and one white or Hispanic person. Victim did not give up her purse, then fell on the grass, where thieves tried to remove her pants before she started screaming. She sustained minor injuries before they fled.

Jan. 30 Victim left her purse in car unattended and unsecure. It was stolen with $1,500 inside.

DEERFIELD – District 4

Jan. 24-25 Auto theft at Tidewater Estates/Pine Tree, 750 Lock Rd., between 9 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) stole two-door, light green, 1998 Nissan 240SX from parking lot on north side of this building.

Jan. 25 Grand theft at Business Park, 4250 N. Powerline Rd., between 11 and 11:15 a.m.

Unknown suspect stole two rear wheel slides from a 1998 GMC tow truck worth approximately $350. Suspect was said to be driving a black pick-up truck.

Jan. 24-25 Conveyance burglary in Deer Creek, 700 Emerald Way, between 7:45 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. Victim was texted by his bank concerning unusual activity on his credit cards. Cards were used in Boca Raton at 4:51 and additional charges later in Dade County. Victim left credit cards in vehicle parked in driveway of home. No signs of forced entry.

Jan. 31 Burglary of an occupied residence at Deer Creek, 2440 Lob Lolly Lane, at 3:05 p.m. Victim observed suspect use a hammer to pry open rear door. Suspect fled through same door after realizing someone was home. A perimeter was quickly established as deputies searched for a tall, thin, white male in his 30s. Suspect was not captured. This is the third burglary in the area with a similar MO (prying a rear door). BSO deputies will continue operational efforts in the area until issue is resolved.

LIGHTHOUSE POINT

Jan. 19 Gold Shiamno Series 400 Calcutta reel was stolen from homeowner on NE 26 Terrace.

Jan. 19 Suspect was detained at Publix for shoplifting sandwiches and was trespassed from the property.

Jan. 23 Thief attempted to leave the Publix at Sample Road with King Crab and vitamins worth $95. When confronted, she dropped the items and fled.

Jan. 24 Homeowner on NE 27 Terrace reported check fraud in the amount of $17,000 after losing his checkbook.

Deerfield Beach

Jan. 18 A purse with $11,000 in contents was stolen from a car on SW 3 Terrace.
Jan. 18 Frank Lovio-Capo was arrested for burglarizing a home on SW Natura Blvd and taking $8,000 jewelry. He was located in Miami.
Jan. 19 Jose Leon, a black male, was arrested on NW 2 Avenue for intercourse with a 14-year-old victim and is facing multiple charges.
Jan. 19 William Genova, of Pompano Beach, was arrested for cutting open packages inside Publix. He pulled a knife on the loss prevention officer and manager. A Lighthouse Point officer was actually in the store and helped out.
Jan. 20 Four A/C units were stolen from a home on SW 11 Street.
Jan. 20 Robert Burch on NW 1 Avenue, Deerfield Beach, was arrested for stealing a $600 Nikon.
Jan. 21 GNC, on S. Federal Highway, was burglarized when a door was pried open. $692 was taken from spots hidden around the restaurant.
Jan. 22 Shaun Crossley was arrested for theft, elderly exploitation, unlicensed contracting for $7,000 in fees to a CVE resident and not doing the work.
Jan. 22 Peterson Escarmont was arrested at Snappy’s when he refused to leave a loitering crowd outside Club 109, which was closed. 30 people were sent away and he refused to leave and was arrested.
Jan. 23 Gogeleo Mendez, of West Palm Beach, was arrested for dumping a wet vac with cleaning solution into a drain on W. Hillsboro Boulevard.

Deerfield – District 4

Jan. 22 Strong arm robbery at Walgreens, 1325 S. Military Trail, at 9:53 p.m. After shopping at Walgreens, victim exited the store and headed toward her car. As she did, an unknown black male attempted to grab her purse from her shoulder. Victim resisted and held onto her purse, yelling for help. The male pushed her to the ground and dragged her across the pavement, trying to pull the purse away from her. A second black male ran toward them, as though to help the first. Seeing this, two witnesses attempted to help the victim, one of them punched and kicked the first male. This caused him to release the purse and run south into the residential area. The second male seeing the Good Samaritans, ran north. One of the good Samaritans chased the first male south to the residential areas; he lost him over a fence. A perimeter was established. Canine and aviation responded. Suspects were not located. Victim had a minor injury to her hand; she declined rescue. Thanks to the good Samaritans, there was no loss of property. Walgreens has video of the suspects and will be providing it.
Jan. 21-22 Residential burglary in Deer Run, 3280 SW 33 Terr. Property is a vacant rental, under renovation. Property agent discovered an unknown person(s) had removed the A/C unit, cutting the power and copper tubing. The A/C unit had been bolted to a cement pad, attached to the building’s foundation. Deputy canvassed the neighborhood; no video or witness.
Jan. 19 Burglary conveyance at Independence Bay, 908 Republic Ct. Suspect entered unlocked vehicle No. 1 opened gas tank access door and poured sugar into it. Suspect attempted to pry open the gas tank access door to vehicle No. 2. Suspect also sprayed yellow paint around vehicles 1 and 2.
Jan. 19 Theft Auto (attempt) at 4870 N. Powerline Rd. (Wholesale Auto Radiator). Unknown suspect gained entry into vehicle, via prying object into the window frame. Suspect then entered vehicle, broke steering column and jammed unknown tool into ignition switch, but was unable to start the vehicle. Crime scene processed.

Lighthouse Point

Jan. 12 A women left her purse in the car at Dollar Tree, 3780 N. Federal Hwy.; it was left unlocked and the purse was stolen.
Jan. 13 An unlocked bike was stolen from a Lighthouse Point Publix.
Jan. 14 Burglars attempted to rob a home on NE 20 Avenue. Windows were broken, but nothing stolen.

Deerfield Beach

Jan. 11 Tavaris Roberson was arrested on 44 St. for attempted sexual battery and kidnapping.

Jan. 15 Two electric Zip scooters were stolen from an RV off NE 48 St.

Jan. 15 Multiple suspects were arrested for multiple air conditioning unit burglaries in Deerfield. Henri Appolon, Mixon Juste, Michael McCord, and Sonny Hilaire are facing various grand theft charges.

Jan. 16 A victim parked at Goodwill on Federal Hwy. and returned to find 5 cell phones and an iPod stolen from the trunk of her car.

Jan. 16 Unknown thieves stole six Shimano TLD 30 Reel and Star rods from a boat at Marina One. Each worth $700, for a total of $4200.

Jan. 16 Village of Key Biscayne police officer Dufrene rear-ended two cars on her way home from work in her police car. Fire Rescue responded but no one transported to hospital. Key Biscayne police responded.

Lighthouse Point

Jan. 5 A $5200 Rolex watch was stolen from a home on NE 50 St.

Jan. 5 A victim at the Post Office on Sample Rd. had her purse with over $2500 in cash other personal items in side.

Jan. 7 A car parked at Gateway Plaza had a purse stolen from it

Jan. 7 A victim had her credit card used in Lighthouse Point after a theft in December.

Jan. 8 Police responded to what sounded like 4 to 5 gunshots and found large aerial fireworks left in the street on NE 34 St. Most of the aerial fireworks had been detonated except one. The Broward Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was called in and handled the material safely for disposal.

Jan. 11 Thieves stole a bait pen with live bait was stolen from a boat behind a home on NE 46 St.

Deerfield Beach

Jan. 5 Police are investigating the apparent suicide at North Broward Medical Center of a Utah man. This is one of three suicides noted in police files this week.

Jan. 6 Six juveniles were arrested for burglarizing Westside Park.

Jan. 6 Felix Ayala, of Boca Raton, stole a Dell computer and a reading Nook from the Deerfield Library.

Jan. 7 A student at Deerfield Beach High School had his cell phone stolen by an unidentified thief.

Jan. 8 A purse was stolen off the beach when left unattended.

Jan. 9 A portable heater caught a mattress on fire at a home on SW 5 Court. The fire caused minimal damage but was caused because the heater was too close to the bed.

Lighthouse Point

Dec. 31 A customer at U-Gas on North Federal highway had their purse stolen from the car while inside the store.

Jan. 1 Over $1500 in miscellaneous items were stolen from a condo on NE 21 Avenue. The housekeeper is suspected.

Jan. 5 On NE 50 Street, a $5,000 Rolex and a set of suitcases were stolen from a homeowner who allowed someone to stay in their home.

Jan. 5 A purse was stolen from a car parked at the Post Office on Sample Road.

West Deerfield

Jan. 6 Residential Burglary reported at 3510 SW 2 Court, Deer Run. Victim stated that between 8:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m., unknown suspect(s) removed a window to the rear door and once inside, removed property. Crime scene was processed and evidence collected. No suspects or witnesses available.

DEERFIELD BEACH

Dec. 27 Police are investigating a home invasion robbery on SE 4 Avenue where two black males rang the doorbell and forced their way inside with guns to take money and jewelry.

Dec. 27 Two black males accosted victims outside Cracker Barrel in Deerfield and stole $500.

Dec. 29 Several unknown juveniles kicked down trees and tore down signs near city parks on NW 45 Avenue. They fled into Deer Chase and never were located.

Dec. 29 About $1,500 in electronics was stolen from a home on Tivoli Circle.

Dec. 30 Anita Rozier, of Pompano Beach, was arrested for trying to pass a counterfeit check at Wachovia Bank, 1007 S. Federal Hwy. Karriem Davey, of Miami, was also arrested that day for a counterfeit check at TD Bank, 3325 W. Hillsboro Blvd.

Dec. 31 Gary Stambaugh was arrested by Deerfield police after an investigation revealed he had stolen at least four vehicles in the last three weeks.

Dec. 31 Four A/C compressors were stolen from a building on SW 34 Avenue.

Jan. 2 A victim from Margate met someone who responded to his Craigslist.org ad to sell his scooter. The man met the victim, asked to test drive the scooter, and drove off.

WEST DEERFIELD BEACH

Jan. 3 The BSO helicopter was flying over the Deer Creek, Lock Road and Military Trail area at 7:39 p.m. Monday. They were trying to locate a missing mentally ill 40-year-old male. He was last seen at 430 Lock Rd.

Jan. 1 On Saturday evening, at the 2400 block of Lob Lolly Lane in the Deer Creek area, police responded to a domestic issue in which a firearm was discharged. No injuries were reported. At this point, no other information is available.

LIGHTHOUSE POINT

Lighthouse Point had no reports ready to go due to the holidays.
