Broward Sheriff’s Office robbery detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for the man who tried to rob an IHOP restaurant last month in Pompano Beach.

The suspect, who witnesses said has a distinctive “sleeve” tattoo of flames that covered his entire right arm, has been identified as 20-year-old Gilbert Cruz.

BSO robbery detectives said shortly after 1 a.m. on June 16, Cruz entered the IHOP at 790 N. Federal Hwy. in Pompano Beach carrying a rifle and demanding money from employees but then leaving before taking the money.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Gilbert Cruz is urged to call BSO Robbery Det. Tony Hierrezuelo at (954) 321-4270 or call Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at (954) 493-TIPS (8477) or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
