Feb. 17 A man was arrested and charged with two counts of grand theft auto and one count of petty theft. The man stole two motorcycles and one leather jacket from RIVA Motorsports at 3671 N. Dixie Hwy.

Feb. 18 A man reported that his home at 580 NE 41 St. was broken into through an open window. He said that speakers and a Sony PlayStation were stolen.

Feb. 18 A man stole a can of Pringles from a Shell gas station at 301 W. Hillsboro Blvd. The man was issued a trespass warning and a notice to appear in court.

Feb. 19 A man reported his car parked at 763 NW 42 Pl. broken into and a Red Mag light stolen from the vehicle.

Feb. 19 A woman reported her car stolen from 265 SE 10 St.

Feb. 19 It was reported that a man stole a phone valued at $700 from Verizon Wireless at 199 N. Federal Hwy..

Feb. 19 A woman reported that someone smashed the driver’s side of her car window at 900 SE 21 Ave. and stole her purse.

 

DEERFIELD — District 4

Feb. 16 Traffic arrest took place at 200 S. Powerline Rd. at 2:42 a.m. Deputy observed a white pick-up truck traveling north on Powerline Road with one headlight inoperative. Deputy explained it looked as if the vehicle was canvassing the warehouse area. Truck also contained rebar and concrete support beams. A traffic stop was initiated and the subject initially did not stop. The subject failed to maneuver a turn and struck an FPL pole at the 200 block of S. Powerline Road.

Subject/driver fled on foot and was apprehended through a K-9 track. Detective responded to location and debriefed one of three subjects who showed them where the grand theft or burglary occurred 1 mile south of Atlantic on Lyons Road., a construction site for the turnpike. Pompano deputies and detectives responded to follow up on incident.

Feb. 14 Firefighters kept townhome fire in check. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue crews kept a fire from spreading. At 4:01 p.m., a neighbor called 9-1-1 to report a fire at 2046 Woodlands Way in Deer Creek. Caller advised there was smoke spewing from the roof of the two-story villa and nobody was answering the door. Firefighters quickly located the fire in the attic and pulled part of the ceiling down to reach the seat of the fire and extinguish it. Firefighters also used thermal imaging cameras to check for fire extension. Several adjacent units were evacuated as a precaution. Fire damage was contained to the front part of the home. Cause of the fire was an electrical malfunction in the attic and was determined accidental. No injuries were reported.

 

LIGHTHOUSE POINT

Feb.13 The manager of Publix Supermarket at 2450 N. Federal Hwy. reported that two fraudulent payroll checks from a business in Miami were cashed at the store. One check was for $491.12 and another was for $492.52.

Feb.14 Two men were arrested and charged with stealing two cardboard bails from Publix Supermarket at 3700 N. Federal Hwy.

Feb. 2 A man reported that he left the windows of his home at 1180 SE 6 Ave. open to air out the home after a fire. The man reported that someone entered the home and stole $750 worth of electronics.

Feb. 3 A man reported that his car was stolen from the parking lot of the Lakes Apartment Complex at 1080 S.Military Trail.

Feb. 3 It was reported that a car parked at 100 SE 21 Ave., the Main Beach parking lot, was broken into. Stolen was $30 from a wallet, and a cell phone.

Feb. 4 A woman reported that her car parked at 100 SE 21 Ave., the Main Beach parking lot, was broken into and a purse and $20 were stolen.

Feb. 4 A woman reported that her home at 1421 NW 45 St. was entered through an unlocked door and a laptop computer was stolen.

Feb. 4 A man was arrested and charged with a narcotics felony at 100 W. Hillsboro Blvd. The man was stopped for a traffic violation. A search of his car revealed crack cocaine under the driver’s seat.

Feb. 5 A man reported that he left his wallet at the customer service area at the Super Target, 3599 W. Hillsboro Blvd. A video showed that a woman placed the wallet in her bag. Loss included credit cards and a driver’s license.

Feb. 5 It was reported that a home at 614 SE 12 Ave. was entered and a laptop computer and $200 were stolen.

 

DEERFIELD — District 4

Feb. 2 Conveyance burglary was reported at the Mobil Station, 1200 W. Hillsboro Blvd. around 5:30 p.m.
While victim was pumping gas, witness observed a black male reach into victim’s vehicle and remove her purse. Subject entered a black Hyundai. Area was checked with negative results, video was available. Vehicle was registered to Enterprise Rental in Coconut Creek. Victim reported total loss of credit cards and $250 in cash.

Feb. 2 Residential burglary arrest was made in Highland Meadows Estates, NW 54 St. During an ongoing investigation, arrestee was identified as the suspect in multiple residential burglaries which occurred July-September 2011 in Highland Meadows Estates Mobile Home Park.

Suspect entered the mobile homes via window or door. Once inside, he would eat and drink the victims’ food. He also stole several large flat-screen televisions, a handgun and other miscellaneous property. Several witnesses were able to provide specific details about these incidents. DNA collected resulted in a positive match for the suspect.

Battery Bandits Caught!

BSO deputies arrested two suspects in connection with multiple battery thefts along the Powerline Road corridor.  An alert deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one used in several burglaries in January 2012.  The suspects were subsequently stopped with several batteries in the rear of the vehicle.  Investigation resulted in the resolution of cases in other jurisdictions as well.

Jan. 31 Police responded to a delayed theft involving two cell phones at Shekinah Missionary Church at 5360 N. Federal Hwy. A man stole two cell phones. The man admitted to stealing the cell phones and the cell phones were returned to the victims. Victims declined to prosecute the man.

Feb.1 A man reported his unlocked car parked at 2846 NE 35 Court was entered. An iPhone charger, iPhone earphone and $65 were stolen.

Feb. 1 A man reported that his car parked at 2541 NE 32 Court was entered. A briefcase containing paperwork, $3,500 and horse medication was stolen. Also a backpack containing a computer was stolen. The man reported that another car at the same address was entered and $25 in change, two pairs of sunglasses and 10 DVDs were stolen.

Jan. 27 It was reported that an unknown person stole three computer towers from desks at Sheraton Cable Corporation at 1015 W. Newport Dr.

Jan. 27 A woman reported that her home at 260 NE 44 St. was burglarized. She said the kitchen window and her dresser drawers were open. She did not know if anything was stolen.

Jan. 27 It was reported that a mountain bike was stolen from a walkway at a 90 NE 19 Ave. Bike was valued at $2,000.

Jan. 28 It was reported that a residence at 821 NE 44 St. was entered and an air compressor, a popcorn machine and spray painter were stolen.

Jan. 29 An unknown suspect broke into a vehicle parked at 1250 SW 11 Way. The person stole an iPod, $110, a Foot Locker gift card and a bank card. Card was used  in West Palm Beach for a $126 purchase.

Jan. 29 A man reported his car, parked at 525 E. Sample Rd., was entered and a Black Taurus .38 Special was stolen.

 

DEERFIELD — District 4

Jan. 20 Residential burglary was reported in Deer Creek at 2231 Woodlands Way. between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Victim reported subject entered residence by prying open the front door and stole jewelry, an X-Box gaming system, laptop computer and $2,500 in cash. Scene was processed.

Jan. 24 Residential burglary attempt was reported in Deer Creek at 1975 Hollows Trail at 9:52 a.m. Victim said he heard knocking at the front door but didn’t answer. After the knocking stopped, his wife heard the kitchen window opening and shouted. The patio screen door was propped open. Pry marks were noticed on the kitchen window. No entry was made.

Battery Thefts in Powerline Corridor Over the past few days, batteries have been stolen from 18 vehicles along the Powerline Road corridor. Video surveillance showed a red, late 1990s model Chevrolet pick-up truck, with an extended cab with nerf bars and a possible white/male as the passenger.

Jan. 20 A woman reported that someone broke into her home at 626 NW 1 Way by prying open the back door. Once inside, the person ate some of her food and stole a backpack, bicycle and clock radio.

Jan. 20 A woman was arrested and charged with grand theft. The woman stole $560 worth of merchandize from Winn Dixie at 1019 S. Federal Hwy.

Jan. 21 Someone stole $11,000 worth of kitchen equipment from the rear of the Mozart Café restaurant at 1250 W. Hillsboro Blvd.

Jan. 22 A person stole a heavy duty truck battery from Roofs To Go at 1650 S. Powerline Rd.

Jan.22 A person stole a truck battery from a vehicle parked at Chemical Pollution of Florida at 4500 N. Powerline Rd.

Jan. 22 A woman reported that a person broke into a home at 325 SW 1 Terr., the home previously occupied by her deceased aunt that is now unoccupied. The woman reported two televisions, a china set and two metal bases to a living room set stolen.

Jan. 22 A man was arrested and charged with grand theft. He stole $637.01 worth of merchandise from Target at 1200 S. Federal Hwy. and fled on foot from a deputy. The deputy used a taser to take down the subject.

Jan. 22 A woman reported her car stolen from 1523 E. Hillsboro Blvd.

 

DEERFIELD — District 4

Jan. 18  From 9:45 to 11:15 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a Deer Chase Apartments residential burglary in progress.  Dispatch advised that the victim was chasing a burglar on foot through the complex. Deputy set up a perimeter. The papa unit and K9 were called for assistance. Moments after the perimeter was set up, deputy advised that he observed the victim chasing the burglar. Moments later, deputies were able to apprehend and detain the burglar. The victim, who watched the apprehension, advised that subject was, in fact, the burglar he caught in his home. Victim said as he walked out of his bathroom, he saw the subject exiting his roommate’s bedroom, carrying his roommate’s property. Subject threatened that he had a gun as victim fled residence. Deputies recovered stolen property on the subject, which was later learned to have been stolen from a conveyance burglary at 207 NW 48 Ave. Two other subjects were apprehended shortly thereafter by BSO detectives. Detective responded for interviews. As of this writing, there is property that was in the subject’s possession that has not been identified. It is believed that there may be some unreported burglaries at this point.

Arrestee gave a post-Miranda confession to this crime to include intimate details of the event at the residence. Arrestee was charged with burglary to an occupied residence, conveyance burglary, two counts of grand theft and violation of parole for burglary.

Jan. 5 A woman reported that her unlocked apartment at 2813 NE 27 St. was entered and a computer stolen.

Jan. 6 A police officer noticed a Publix employee chasing a woman outside the Publix at 3700 N. Federal Hwy. The officer saw fish and meat packages from Publix sticking out of a bag the woman was carrying. The Publix employee said he saw the woman take meat and fish from the store and leave without paying for the items. The woman was arrested and charged with stealing $137.38 worth of fish and meat.

Jan. 9 A woman reported that she had some change converted to currency at the Publix at 2450 N. Federal Hwy. After a time, she realized her money was missing and filed a report.

Jan.10 A man reported his pickup truck stolen from 3030 NE 44 St.

Jan.14 A man reported that his home at 2045 Discovery Circle was broken into and $7,000 worth of fishing poles were stolen.

Jan. 14 It was reported that Armen’s Auto Repair at 37 NE 1 Terr. was broken into. Although there were computers and other expensive items in the office, nothing was stolen. Only the desk drawer was entered.

Jan.15 A man reported two batteries stolen from his commercial vehicle parked at 4100 N. Powerline Rd.

Jan. 15 It was reported that an unlocked rental car was entered and $900, jewelry, a laptop, cell phone and shoes were stolen. Total loss was estimated at $30,000.

Jan. 16 A woman left her purse in an unlocked car parked at 4394 NW 9 Ave. When she returned, she noticed the purse was stolen, containing a driver’s license, Social Security card and $330.

Jan.16 A woman was arrested and charged with stealing items from Publix at 1337 S. Military Trail. She placed items in her purse and tried to leave the store without paying for the items.

Jan. 16 Another woman was issued a notice to appear after attempting to steal $54.77 worth of items from Publix at 1337 S. Military Trail.

Jan.16 It was reported that two tires were stolen from a van parked at 1301 SW 34 Ave.

Jan. 16 A woman reported that the passenger-side window of her car parked at 1000 E. Hillsboro Blvd. was broken into and her purse valued at $70 was stolen.

Jan. 6 A man reported his car stolen from his home at 1460 SW 11 Way. The man said he knows the woman who he believes took his car.

Jan 6 A man stole $50,000 worth of jewelry from his mother’s safe and fled the home at 20 SW 12 Ave. The man pawned the jewelry. The man agreed to return some of the jewelry. After getting off a train, he was arrested and charged with theft.

Jan. 6 A man reported that someone used a rock to break into his home at 468 NW 1  Ave. Once inside, the individual stole $1,000, a laptop and a jewelry box.

Jan. 7 A woman reported that her car parked at 401 S. Powerline Rd. was broken into and a purse with credit cards, a driver’s license and a camera were stolen.

Jan. 7 360 NW 42 St. A woman reported her home broken into and $100 and a laptop computer stolen.

Jan.7 928 SE 14 Terr. A man reported that a spear gun and weight belt next to his vehicle were stolen. The car was parked at 928 SE 14 Terr.

Jan. 8 An employee of Marley’s Diner at 699 S. Federal Hwy. reported that a man attempted to break into the restaurant by kicking in the rear glass door. When the man realized the restaurant was occupied, he fled by car.

Jan. 8 An individual broke into a home at 1413 SE 2 Ave. by smashing out the rear sliding glass door. The individual stole a video camera, a digital camera, collectable coins and gold jewelry.

Jan. 8 A man was arrested and charged with stealing two six packs of Mike’s Hard Lemonade from Publix at 1337 S. Military Tr.

 

DEERFIELD – District 4

Jan. 7  Conveyance burglary was reported in Quiet Waters Park at  401 S.Powerline Rd. between 1:40 and 1:45 p.m.Victim reported that unknown suspect(s) broke out the passenger side window of a 2009 Toyota Corolla and removed the purse from the floor board. Scene was processed and latent fingerprints obtained. The purse contained credit cards, DL, and a camera all valued at approximately $500 total.

Jan. 4-5 Grand theft occurred at 1401 Green Rd. between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. City of Deerfield Beach employee reported that unknown suspect(s) removed a 40-cubic yard roll off a box from behind the Party Warehouse. The bin could only be removed by a truck designed for such removal. Valued at $4,000 and light blue in color. Canvass negative.

Jan. 5  Residential burglary arrest took place in Deer Run at 387 SW 34 Terr. During an ongoing investigation, arrestee was identified as the third suspect in two residential burglaries which occurred in July 2011, where suspects forced entry through the front door or back doors of the residences. Once inside, suspects ransacked the interiors and removed electronics and jewelry. Suspects utilized socks from the home to avoid fingerprints and pillowcases from the beds to take the property. On Jan. 5, 2012, suspect was due in court and was placed into custody.

Jan. 3 The auto lots manager of C & K Auto Imports at 4800 N. Federal Hwy. reported that a left passenger rear view mirror was stolen from a car parked at the business. Video surveillance showed that two men worked together to steal the mirror.

Dec. 31 A man reported that his work van parked at 964 S. Deerfield Ave., was broken into, and $1,683 in tools were stolen.

Jan. 1 A man was arrested and charged with grand theft. He stole $381.40 worth of merchandise from Target at 1200 S. Federal Hwy.

Jan. 2 A man stole beer from a 7-11 store at 1900 S. Powerline Rd. The man escaped in a car.

Jan. 2 Two cars were broken into at 4131 NE 2 Ave. The cars were ransacked. It was reported that nothing was taken from one car. A gift card was taken from another car.

Jan. 2 A home at 1110 SW 6 Ave. was broken into. Three flat-screen televisions, a laptop computer, two gaming systems, 40 to 50 games and jewelry were stolen. Total value of the items stolen was estimated at $10,000.

Jan. 2 A woman asked a woman who she was sharing an apartment with to leave the apartment at 167 SW 1 Terr. The woman broke into the other woman’s car and stole an iPad. She then fled.

Jan. 2 At La Quinta Inns & Suites, 351 W. Hillsboro Blvd., a man approached another man and asked for a cigarette. When the other man tried to get a cigarette, the man took the other man’s wallet containing $950. The man who stole the wallet had been observed in the hotel’s lobby during the day.

Jan. 2 A fenced compound of a warehouse at 260 NW 1 St. was broken into and a soda vending machine was stolen.

Dec. 15 A man reported his vehicle parked at 2446 NE 20 Ave. broken into and money stolen.

Dec.15 A man reported that a five-piece sterling set, jewelry and a boat motor were stolen from his home at 2860 Marina Circle. He believes his daughter stole the items. The man found some of the items at Value Pawn and asked that a hold be placed on the transaction. This request was honored.

Dec.15 A man reported that his wife, who suffers from dementia, was missing. The report was made at 2330 NE 35 St. The woman was later found by Coconut Creek Police Department.

Dec. 21 A man was arrested and charged with burglary and theft of the Deli and Market at 111 SE 2 Ave. He allegedly worked with another man to burglarize the business and deprive it of $48,000.

Dec. 22 A man was arrested and charged with grand theft.  He stole five steel drums and one travel chain from BK Marine, his former employer, and attempted to sell the items to a scrap yard. The incident was reported at 3500 SW 14 St.

Dec. 22 A man was arrested and charged with stealing batteries, a shift and a cable from Home Depot at 60 SW 12 Ave.

Dec. 22 A man reported that his residence at 340 SW 1 Terr. was broken into and ransacked, but said nothing was stolen.

Dec. 22 A woman reported a mountain bike valued at $800 stolen from the backyard of her home at 940 SE 4 Court.

Dec. 23 A home at 761 Crystal Lake Dr. was broken into, and a digital camera and watch were stolen.

Dec. 23 A report was made that an individual or individuals smashed the windows of four cars and stole miscellaneous items. The report was made at 941 Crystal Lake Dr.

Dec. 23 A report was made that an individual or individuals smashed the windows of seven cars and stole miscellaneous items. The report was made at 551 NW 42 Court.

Dec. 23 A woman was arrested and charged with stealing $351.78 worth of items from Target at 3599 W. Hillsboro Blvd.

Dec. 23 A man approached a woman while she was placing groceries in her car in the parking lot of Winn Dixie at 1021 S. Federal Hwy. He stole her purse and escaped into a waiting car.

Dec.16 A man was arrested and charged with a narcotics felony at 300 NW 1 Ave. He was in possession of an MDMA tablet and marijuana.

Dec.17 The theft of 10 cell phones valued at $5,844.95 was reported from Verizon Wireless at 3656 W. Hillsboro Blvd. There were no signs of forced entry. Person who filed the complaint said that a person who was recently fired from the company had a key to the building.

Dec.17 A man reported his home at 3861 NW 3 Ave. broken into. He said that an X-Box 360 and 10 video games, an MP3 Player and clothing were stolen. He estimated the value of the stolen items at $1,065.

Dec. 18 A woman was arrested and charged with petty theft after stealing four bottles of perfume valued at $84.96 from T.J. Maxx at 3812 W. Hillsboro Blvd. She was issued a Notice to Appear and released.

Dec. 18 A woman was arrested and charged with petty theft after stealing $135 in clothing and jewelry from Rainbow Apparel at 3860 W. Hillsboro Blvd.

Dec.18 It was reported that three vehicles had three windows smashed at 1901 SW 15 St.

Dec. 18 A man reported his home at 920 NE 50 Court broken into and an X-Box 360, 100 CDs and a DVD player stolen.

Dec.18 A man reported his home at 1030 SW 14 St. broken into, two rooms ransacked, company checks and one uncashed business check for $14,000 stolen.

Dec. 18 A man reported his apartment at 821 SE 9 St. broken into and a gold watch and $1,500 stolen.

 

DEERFIELD – District 4

Dec. 7-8 Residential burglary took place in Deer Creek, 3135 Lakeshore Dr., between 3 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. Neighbor of victim reported that unknown suspect(s) entered through a rear-window (possibly jimmied lock), checked interior, but did not leave with any property that reportee is aware of. Victim is in New York. Scene was processed with positive results; canvass negative.

Dec. 7 Residential burglary was reported in Riverglen, 120 NW 45 Ave.  between 7:30 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. Unknown suspects entered the victim’s home, by breaking the front glass window, and removed numerous TV’s, computers and cameras while the victim was at work. Total loss $5,200. Scene was processed with latent fingerprints obtained.

Nov. 28-Dec. 7 Residential burglary occurred in Deer Creek, 2690 Kelleybrooke Lane. Caretaker of residence advised between noted dates, unknown suspect(s) broke into residence by smashing rear sliding glass door. Once inside, unknown suspects(s) ransacked bedrooms and bathrooms. It is unknown if anything was taken. Owners live permanently in New Jersey and could not be reached.

Dec. 10 A man reported four hubcaps stolen from his car at 3801 NE 26 Ave.

Dec. 10 A man reported two hubcaps stolen from his car at 3721 NE 27 Ave.

Dec.14 A man was arrested and charged with burglary and battery. He forced his way into his mother’s home at 2880 Marina Cir. She has told her son that he is no longer welcome at her home. The woman said her son has broken into her home and stolen items.

Dec. 14 A woman reported jewelry from her home at 1961 NE 35 St. stolen. She believes two former neighbors stole the jewelry. She said that when the neighbors abandoned their apartment and left the area, she was permitted to enter the apartment. The woman reported finding some of her jewelry items. She estimated the value of her stolen jewelry to be $1,300.

Dec. 8 An individual reported a car break-in at 3135 Lakeshore Dr. Nothing was reported stolen.

Dec. 8 A woman who works at Target reported her car stolen from the store parking lot at 3599 W. Hillsboro Blvd.

Dec. 9 A man was arrested and charged with trafficking in narcotics. He was found in possession of 56 grams of rock and powder cocaine at 1400 SW 9 Ave.

Dec. 9 An automobile was reported stolen from Tropical Motors at 4921 N. Dixie Hwy.

Dec. 9 A man reported that a package delivered to the door of his apartment at 770 SE 2 Ave. was stolen.

Dec. 10 A theft of six truck tires valued at about $350 each was reported at 1250 W. Newport Center Dr.

Dec. 10 A man reported his car parked at 4501 NE 2 Ave. broken into and $2 in change stolen.

DEERFIELD – District 4

Dec. 9  Auto theft, Target, 3599 W. Hillsboro Blvd. between 3 and 3:20 p.m. Victims reported that unknown suspects removed their silver van from the parking lot, and attempted to steal another van via punched door lock and broken ignition column. Video surveillance revealed suspect vehicle circulating the area. Stolen vehicle entered into TT, and processed with negative results due to inclement weather.

Dec. 3-9, Residential burglary, Villas on the Green, 2643 N. Emerald Way. Victim was out of town during the above-listed days. Caretaker came over on Dec. 9 and found that the rear slider door to the residence was damaged. It appears that unknown person(s) had pried the slider door open and gained entry. Once inside, subjects stole several pieces of jewelry and gift cards. Total loss: about $15,000. Area was canvassed with negative results. Scene was processed.
